 Church 7s 2008 Report

Zimbo Wild Dogs 2008 Church 7s

Well the Wild Dogs had a rocking Church 7s tournament this year. Much fun was had by all in a full-on blood and glory encounter with some very good clubs. Our first match was against a very tight Penguins team. It was this squads first time playing together, and we lost to a better team who obviously play week in week out.

Anyway our second encounter vs the Cornish Jacks, a Pirates Social Sevens team, went the same way although the team pulled together to emerge with a respectable result.

Our third match vs The Law Society saw the Wild Dogs producing some champagne rugby, and after a really hard fought game, we came out with a Victory. We were picking up injuries at this stage and were down to 7 players for the final match. So we negotiated for some players from the Penguins and Cornish Jacks, and came away with a full compliment.

Lastly we were up against the Otters, who were the eventual Tournament winners. They seemed to be in the wrong section, as they were a team full of professional athletes and unfortunately a bit too good for us. We did manage a couple of tries against them though so it wasn't all one way traffic.

After our four matches we were ready for the serious business of fines and drinking games so we hooked up with some chicks from the Pink Ba-bas sevens team, a very impressive outfit, and the Spoofettes netball team, another talented team. Overall, it was an excellent tournament. Bring on the next one.
